English Translation

(Haikara Kurui, Crazy Fashion)
By Number Girl
Music and Lyrics by Mukai Shutoku

——–

shiranai ma ni asa ni natte ta machi no iro
In the morning, I know not the color of the city

The passing radiance of the dazzling sun burns me

shirame ma ni moete iru
Insidious burning

shirame ma ni moete iru
Insidious burning

sono giragira ni ore no megane ga yakete iku
My glasses continue to be burned by the dazzle

sono giragira ni ore no megane ga yakete iku
My glasses continue to be burned by the dazzle

samayotte asa no machi kara yuugure made
Prowling the city from morning to night

jin wa byouki wo kurikaesu
People becoming infected, over and over

machi soruja no bouryoku shoudou
The violent impulses of the city soldiers

furui natsu no hi no omoide wa kiete yuku
The old summer days of my memories continue to disappear

byouki wa dondon shinkou
Rapidly advancing sickness!

byouki wa dondon shinkou
Rapidly advancing sickness!

byouki wa dondon shinkou
Rapidly advancing sickness!

hayari yamai ni oka sareta ooku no hito ga shinda
Most of the infected have died from this fashion disease!

hayari yamai ni kakacchi matta
Suffering from this fashion disease,

ore wa mada ikite iru
I am still living

Note: The word “Haikara” (Japanese version of the English “high collar”) in Japanese was originally slang for a high collar, western type of fashion. Now it is more a scornful synonym for a “poser” in fashion. Mukai is possibly deriding Japan for embracing Western culture in lieu of forgetting Japanese culture. 1. oh wow thanks so much this is my favorite NG song!
all i could work out before was the ‘fashion disease’ and ‘sickness quickly spreads’
