English Translation

Sakura no Dansu, Cherry Blossom Dance

I have never seen the tram run
I want the strength to focus on ordinary things
I want to embrace the sea
Do you see the cherry blossom’s dance?
In between the seasons, can you hear
the playful wind’s voice?
At this crossing, I was just another one.
Depressed, feel like crying. Think I’m holding narrow expectations.
Do you see the cherry blossom’s dance?
In between the seasons, can you hear
the playful wind’s voice?

Note: Sakura (cherry blossoms) are a symbol of mortality in Japan, as well as a Buddhist symbol. Mukai is known to use Buddhist imagery. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cherry_blossom
The line “Watashi wa umi wo dakashimete itai” (I want to embrace the sea) is used in homage to Sakaguchi Ango, who wrote a story called Watashi wa Umi wo Dakashimete Itai. Ango is also mentioned in the song PIXIE DU. The line is also the title of a song that can be heard on the Rare Tracks Omoide album.
